2016 has been so full of new beers it’s been hard to keep up. Here is a peek at what new and returning beers have hit the taps in 2016.
New- Limited Release: Come Together Pale Ale – For Chef’s Week, we paired up with Chefs Doug Adams (Imperial), Adam Sappington (Country Cat), and Rick Gencarelli (Lardo) to create something special. We wanted to brew something that would be perfect to pair with a menagerie of menus and keep things coming together nicely. We chose to ferment a Czech Pilsner strain at ale temperature, creating a pale ale with citrus and pine grove aromas, and a crisp, clean balance. It’s polite, complimentary, provides witty anecdotes, and even helps with the dishes. Guaranteed to groove up slowly so you can do as you please. 6.5% ABV, 50 BU
Last year’s Chefs Week PDX collaboration beer with chef Dougie Adams (Imperial) ‘Yacht Rock’ was inspired by the classic Loggins and Messina Full Sail album. Sticking with the iconic album theme the fellas decided on giving a nod to the iconic album Abbey Road by The Beatles.
New– Moon Patrol Imperial Stout- After a long, grueling day patrolling the surface of the moon, warding off attacks from the sky, jumping over craters, and dodging mine fields, a Moon Ranger could really use a way to unwind. This Imperial Stout is a full 16 bits of warm toffee, caramel, and a fine lining of raspberry jam. It’s the color of the dark side, smooth, and pleasantly weighted on the tongue. Guaranteed to ease stress after a long day of patrol. 8.4% ABV, 82 BU
New- Perfect Strangers Hoppy Red Kölsch- In collaboration with our friends from Seattle, Ryan of the Rhein Haus Biergarten and Myles Derschang Group, we present Perfect Strangers. After much deliberation, we chose to combine two of our worlds, a German style biergarten and an Oregon craft brewery, and create a Hoppy Red Kölsch. This mash up of styles results in a beer with aromas reminiscent of melon, lemon, and dill and flavors of toffee, raisin bran, and a touch of jasmine tea. Perfect to share with friends and strangers alike. Prost! 5.8% ABV, 42 BU
New- Sphagnum P.I. Scotch Ale- Named after the moss responsible for peat bog formation, this Scotch ale was brewed on the heels of our peated malt wash. Its malty physique is complemented by notes of caramel and toffee, smoked peat, and just a hint of bitterness. This beer is the perfect winter warmer after a long day on the river or the mountain, or saving the day in your Ferrari. 6.8% ABV, 36 BU
New- Stardust IPA- With just a beer light to guide us, we have set forth on a journey that just may take us to Mars. Light and crisp candied fruit, apple, and tangerine aromas lift off the nose, leaving a spray of diamonds in its wake. Quaffable and refreshing, this IPA complements a spinning record and good company. We took it all too far, but boy, could he play guitar… 6.5% ABV, 40 BU
It’s Baaack!- Carrie Ladd Steam Porter- This beer is a tribute to the Steamship Carrie Ladd that ran freight and passengers from Portland to the Cascade Rapids (Cascade Locks) from 1859 to 1862. We ferment this beer with Czech Lager yeast at ale temperature to temper the sulfur that this yeast tends to throw. The unique ferment temperature provides a fresh bread aroma with light cherry fruit overtones to this already rich, roasted, and robust porter. This style was popular among the pioneers that flocked to the coastal Northwest for the gold and timber rush. 6.6% ABV, 43 BU
As always it will be an exciting year of beer here at Double Mountain and we look forward to having a pint or two with you. Cheers!
