Well friends, we are in the heart of fresh hop season and the Killers are on the loose.
Killer Green Fresh Hop IPA
Description: It’s the most wonderful time of the year. We were able to wrangle a bounty of Brewer’s Gold and Simcoe from Sodbusters Farms in Salem for us to turn into delicious fermented nectar. We worked around the clock to ensure these beauties got in to the boil, the hop back, and the fermenter as soon as possible. The result: pine forest, red apple, savory citrus, kind herb, and red fruit aromas waft from the effervescence, supported by a dry, brioche malt body and a pleasantly lasting bitterness. Be green. Drink Killer Green. 7.6% ABV, 85 BU
Killer Red Fresh Hop IRA
Description: Mother Nature is a wonder. Each year she decrees what her bounty will bring, regardless of what we think it should be. Thusly, Sodbuster Farms in Salem brought us Perle early this year. Luckily, we were ready and willing. The consortium of the hops and malt provide the Killer Red with aromas of spiced blood orange, pineapple, granny smith, and forest. A healthy malt bill balances the top end and lends candied fruit, biscuit, and caramel character to the tongue. When life hands you hops, make fresh hop beer! 7.3% ABV, 85 BU
Killer Brass Fresh Hop Dangerous Blonde Ale
We scored some extra fresh Sterling hops from Sodbuster Farms in the Willamette Valley, and added these lovelies to a base of Pilsner malt, a little rye, and some Hood River Valley clover honey. The spice of the rye compliments the Sterling’s pleasant, clean, herbal citrus aroma, and leaves a finish that is crisp as a fall Northwest morning. The warmth of the honey evens the palate, and makes this a perfect beer to celebrate this time of year. It’s a strong blonde, but plays nicely with others. 8.2% ABV, 45 BU
